A Ag mine located in sec. 26, T.30N., R.45E.
Structure: Roberts Mtns. Thrust; Lewis (Whiskey Canyon) Thrust Laramide Faults, Oneset Nw, One Nne.
Alteration: Somesilicic, Sericitic, Pyritic
Deposit: Quartz and barite veins; quarrtz and metal sulfides ore later than barite silver discovered in lewis canyon in 1867 by j. Green and e.j. George. Several stamp mills were built in 1876 to treat the ore from the eagle and start grove mines. A 40-stamp mill was built in 1880 and the narrow-guage battle mountain and lewis railway was built from lewis jctn. In reese riv. Valley, to lewis and later to starr grove mine. Starr grove took second place to the betty o'neal mine after that discovery in 1880. Patented claim ; info.src : 1 pub lit; 2 unpub rept
Development: Silver was discovered in lewis canyon in 1867. Several stamp mills were built in 1876.
Geology: Quartz and metal sulphides are later than barite.
