Alteration: Strong, Of Porphyry-Argillic, Of Quartzite, Tco

Deposit: Three quartz veins, 6 to 30 in. Thick. Texture of ore here indicates stibnite was shattered after deposition and interstices between grains were filled with marcasite. Prospectors discovered gold in maysville canyon in 1882. Development of kattenhorn consists of six adits and other workings totalling several thousand feet. In 1880's, the mine was equipped with two huntington grinding units and four amalgamating pans. It closed in 1890, to reopen from 1913 to 1923. ; info.src : 1 pub lit
