Structure: Ne-Trending Fault, Fracture Zone

Deposit: The steeply-dipping, nw-trending quartz-tourmaline vein is 2 1/2 to 5 ft wide terminating on the west end in diabase dike and on the east end at a northeast trending fault. Tourmaline replaced quartz after sulfide mineralization. Visible gold was observed As flakes in limonite (from pyrite), in tetrahedrite, and rarely in galena. Ore deposit is genetically related to the granodiorite stock exposed in spring valley and the diabase dike that intrudes the rhyolite may be an off shoot from this body.; model name could also be: polymetallic veins. Discovered in 1868, under the name lady mary, then relocated in 1871 As the eagle mine. The mine was actively worked during the period 1868-85, then intermittently until 1910. The mine is developed on a steeply dipping, nw-trending quartz-tourmaline vein in an altered diabase dike in rochester rhyolite. The vein was mined by drifting eastward from a shaft at west end of the mine stoped to the surface along a length of about 200 to 250 feet. ; info.src : 1 pub lit; 2 unpub rept

Deposit type: Low-sulfide Au-quartz vein

Development: First explored under the name lady mary, then relocated in 1871 As the eagle mine. It was actively worked during 1868-85, then, intermittently until 1910.
