Structure: Mt. Tobin Thrust Fault Ne Trending Fault Zones

Alteration: Replacement, Silicification

Deposit: Claims located in 1956. Idle since 1958. Development includes extensive bulldozer cuts, a short adit, and numerous shallow test pits. Mine is in the lower plate of the mt. Tobin thrust fault. ; info.src : 1 pub lit; 2 unpub rept; 3 field observ some cinnabar is younger than the stibnite. In places, the cinnabar forms blebs and veinlets As much As 0.25 inch thick in barite lenses 1-3 ft thick, and locally it is accompanied by stibnite and sb oxides. In some places the ore is very rich and may contain several percent hg, but such places have been so small and so erratically distributed that exploration in this area of scant exposure has been difficult.

Deposit type: Barite-fluorite veins

Development: Idle since 195810 claims leased soon after staking in 1956 to humboldt metals, a partnership arranged by r. R. Whiting. Exploration done in 1957 was not productive and the lease was dropped. from 1963 to 1972 additional exploration by bulldozing, drilling, and geochemical sampling was done by the owners and at least two groups of lessees, but with the depressed price of mercury, the title was apparently allowed to lapse after 1973. In 1974, part of the ground was staked As the valley view claim by ed hager. In 1978, an eastern sector was relocated by the chemical and petroleum corp As the bonetta claim, and a western part by houston oil and minerals corp As the cain group.

Geology: Barite occurs As veinlets, isolated pods, and masses replacing the limestone. Small grains and crystals of cinnabar occurs erratically in barite veins and along thin seams in the fractured limestone adjoining the fault. Stibnite occurs As sporadic pods along the fault. The stibnite and some of cinnabar were deposited earlier than the barite. Some of the cinnabar is younger than the stibnite. ; geol.desc: NE trending fault zones
