NBMG Sample Site 2561
Sec 28 T30N R34E. Gold mine.
Alteration: Sericitized, Silicified, Pyritized Wallrock
Deposit: The deposit consists of a system of fissure quartz veins less than 1 ft wide to 3 ft wide. The principal vein has a maximum width of 1 foot and strikes n20w. The sulfides are partly replaced by supergene argentite, covellite, chalcocite, and complex mixtures of cerussite, malachite, azurite, and sb and Mn oxides. The rhyolite porphyry intrusive near the mine is considered to be the source of the mineralization. Worked on a small scale since the 1860's ; info.src : 1 pub lit; 2 unpub rept; 3 field observ
Deposit type: Low-sulfide Au-quartz vein
Development: Worked on a small scale since the 1860's. Remains of old mill on property with moderate amount of cyanide tailings. Material now in ore bin must have been brought in from elsewhere to be milled; it could not have come from marigold mine, so caution should be used in sampling the property since mill was obviously used to run ore from other properties. No activity in 1984; long idle.
