Structure: Faults
Commodity: A large amount of ore remains unmined because it is no longer in demand As a smelter flux.
Deposit: Ore shoot was first cut in the shaft at 150 ft dipping 17 se. Above the main bed in the shaft, another bed of ore 20 ft thick was found. Shaft was continued and at the 381 ft level another ore body was found 18 ft thick. Another 1.5 ft of rich Ag ore was found 45 ft below this. High-grade pb-ag ore was mined from two quartz veins and an irregular siliceous replacement body in the virginia-louise workings. 5 ore bodies in all, 5-80 ft thick discovery year: 1860's
Deposit type: Polymetallic replacement
Development: 1 patented claim, 2 unpatented claims over 50 acres. Virginia-louise mining co. Was formed in 1912 and sunk a shaft that year to reach extension of prince ore beds. Ore was blocked out by end of 1913 but wwi closed the market for low-grade fluxing ore and it was not until sept 1918 that shipments began. There was litigation between virginia louise and prince consolidated in 1917 and 1918 which ended with a compromise whereby virginia louise could ship ore over prince cons. railroad in return for release from a trespass judgment. Ore shipped in 1920
