Seddas Moddizzis. Calamine mine.
Engineer Giorgio Asproni took over this calamine deposit in 1870.
He built a wash plant for the treatment of calamine (a mixture of smithsonite, hemimorphite, and hydrozincite that was mainly used for the production of zinc metal).
The ore showed many similarities with the material of the Vieille Montagne mine Sa Duchessa.
Asproni also built a few calcination ovens. About 100,000 tons of calamine were produced.
The period from 1920-1936 was marked by great difficulties due to an outdated installation and the lack of money to modernize. After the death of engineer Asproni in 1936, the mine was sold to Monteponi Company. The mine closed in 1963.
