Iron Mountain
Note: Iron Mountain is a local name for Spar Mountain. The name is derived from visible iron staining on oxidized rocks on surface fluorspar and fluorite specimens. The iron staining can be found on specimens from the Bethel Sandstone, Yankeetown, Renault Limestone and Aux Vases Sandstone (Rosiclare Member). The name should not be confused with Iron Hill (Tower Hill Mine) or Lead Hill. [Jared Freiburg, 2017, pers. communication to Erin Delventhal].
