Iron mine active from 1903-1908 in the Proterozoic Freedom Formation. The ore did not outcrop, but was known initially from well digging. The ore was in an inter layered series of ferruginous dolostone, slates and cherts. Few surface traces of the mine remain today(2014) although with the property owner's permission and proper scuba gear one can still access some of the underground workings(see attached video link).
