Copper prospect USGS PP68
Structure: Pecos-Picuris Fault Jones Shear Zone

Alteration: The Rhyolite Has Intense Hydrothermal Alteration (Riesmeyer, 1978, P. 18)

Tectonics: Sangre De Cristo Uplift

Deposit: Mineralization occurs in the chlorite schist As stringers of chalcopyrite, pyrite, and quartz which either parallel or cut across the foliation. A fe W small gash veins, perpendicular to foliation, are filled with chalcopyrite in the middle adit. The dump material from the middle and lower adits contains mineralized material very similar in appearance to material from the pecos mine. This material is composed of about 30% sulfides: sphalerite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, pyrrhotite and galena in a chlorite-quartz-tremolite-actinolite matrix.

Geology: The precambrian meta-volcanics do not have a formal name in this area.
