The Mingo’o area is composed of Neoarchean to Paleoproterozoic rocks, including amphibolites, amphibole garnet gneiss, amphibole garnetite, garnet amphibolite, garnet gneiss, and BIFs. BIFs are composed mainly of alternating iron-rich and quartz-rich layers. They show centimeter-scale banding of quartz and oxide layers, similar to the mesobanding of Trendall (1973). They comprise tiny mesobands of Fe-oxide and recrystallized quartz that alternate in a dynamic pattern and transform into greenschist to amphibolite facies, measuring 0.5–1.5 cm.
