At the Yangjiashan deposit, the sediments system in the ore field comprises the Late Ediacaran, Early Cambrian and the Quaternary strata. The Ediacaran Piyuancun Formation (about 400 m thick) consists of black gray massive pyrite-bearing silicalite, dark gray carbonaceous silicalite and microcrystalline limestone, a bottom-up sequence that exhibits property of subabyssal basin facies. The Early Cambrian Hetang Formation consists of unique abyssal basin sequences under an anoxic environment and is rich in vanadium, and a 30 m thick stone coal layer with black pyrite-bearing carbon salicaceous shale and pyrite-bearing carbonaceous shale exist at the bottom. The ore bodies of V4, V5, and V8 contribute to most of vanadium resource for the Yangjiashan deposit.
