Fânzeres is a former parish in the municipality of Gondomar. Following an administrative merger in January 2013, a new and larger parish was formed: the União das Freguesias de Fânzeres e São Pedro da Cova.
In the locality of Fânzeres, there was once a significant occurrence of staurolite crystals, considered the best occurrence of this mineral in Portugal. Twinned crystals were frequently found. Today, the occurrence is exhausted, and it is very difficult to find specimens, as the site has been largely covered by buildings.
