A former underground Pb-Au-Cu-Zn-Ag mine located on the North side of Mount Union Pass. Started before 1881; reopened in 1900 and closed in 1902; idle 1912 to 1922. Owned by Betty O'Neal Mining Co., Nevada (1926). Patented claims extend into secs. 1 & 2, T12N, R2W. On the Quad map the Storm Cloud Mine is identified as the Cash Mine.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with a tabular ore body in Yavapai Schist injected with diorite. The vein strikes N.40ºE. and dips 60ºSE. The orebody is a series of well-defined lenses with a maximum thickness of 2½ feet (0.9 meters), and occurs in sericite schist that is, in places, black and graphitic. The ore is rich in sulfides. The center of the vein is generally an open cavity lined with beautiful crystals of all the vein minerals.
Workings include a 28 foot deep shaft (1881); a total of 3 shallow shafts prior to 1883; and, ultimately, a 400 foot deep shaft. A 10-stamp mill was erected on site.
