Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Sphalerite vs. Anorthite
Both zinc ore Sphalerite and calcium plagioclase feldspar Anorthite have perfect cleavage that will split cleanly if you hit them with a hammer, but only one can claim a larger split of your votes!

Gem mining.
One of several emerald mines in the northern zone of the Mananjary emerald mining district (Cheilletz et al. 2001). The mines of the north zone are mostly located in the Ambalahosy Nord Commune, north of Ikanjovato and the RN25 road, between the Manajary river and Vohipaky mountain.

But contradictory to this, Schwartz (1994, cited from Thomas 1993) list it as being one of the emerald mines in the area around the Morafeno emerald mine, which is in the southern zone.

The emerald mineralisation occurs within phlogopitite developed at the contact between pegmatite and basic/ultrabasic rocks, characterised by reactions zones at the contact with serpentinite.

Some good crystals, loose or on matrix, in the recent pockets, especially gem emerald on matrix and loose sharp alexandrite crystals.
Erronously spelled as "Ambodifandrika" in Schwartz (1994).
