The Shuanghe Se deposit is divided into seven ore blocks, including Miaowan, Tudiya, Yutangba, Majing’ao, Gongshanwan, Guanyinghe, and Qiaoping. The majority of these ore blocks are distributed in the middle portion of the northwest limb of the Shuanghe syncline. The highest Se concentration recorded in the carbonaceous siliceous rock from the Shuanghe deposit has reached as high as 80,000 ppm.
The Se orebodies are hosted within the lower and middle lithologic units of the Gufeng Formation, which is underlain by the Middle Permian Maokou Formation and overlain by the Late Permian Wujiaping Formation. The host rocks are primarily composed of black, thin-layered carbonaceous shale and medium to thin-layered carbonaceous siliceous rocks, which exhibit stratified structures with a typical layer thickness of 3 to 15 cm. The Se-rich rocks generally contain a high percentage of organic matter, and some of them become sapropelic coal, which is locally called “stone coal”. The Se orebodies exhibit lenticular shapes and are in conformity with the wall rocks. The average ore grade is 0.13 %, with a reserve of 50 tons.
