Monte dell’Ora, Monte dell’Orso
Very small quarry on the eastern slope of Monte dell'Oro, a wooded hill (860 m above sea level) where an approximately 200 x 100 m ophiolite outcrops. The rock is a cataclastic serpentinite, with clues of largely oxidized sulfide mineralization. Microminerals can be found in veinlets that cut the typical striations of fault planes.
The locality is named Monte dell'Oro (literally Gold Mountain) or Monte dell’Ora (presumably with the meaning of a site where to pray) in the mineralogical literature (Dalrio 1980; Pedroni et al. 1996) even if in the official cartography is Monte dell’Orso (Bear Mountain).
