Mine (Abandoned) - last checked 2024
Köppen climate type:
Maçanet de Cabrenys is located southwest of La Vajol and represents hills of ancient calcareous layers altered dramatically by hydrothermal activity. The hydrothermal fluid contained mainly iron, but also present were cobalt and titanium, as well as heavy metals, although not everywhere and only as colloids. The calcite was thus replaced by siderite, cobaltocalcite(?), etc.
