Deposit: On the monte cristo claim there is a bold outcrop of nearly barren reddish vein quartz. An inclined shaft sunk on this vein encounted favorable ore, and between 1879 and 1890 a production of 9726 tons yielding $9.80/ton was recorded. In 1913 and 1914 the mine was operated As the comstock monte cristo mining company, transporting the ore over an aerial tramway to the mellcan mill.
