A sulfur-halite-limestone deposit located on private land, 4.2 km (2.6 miles) SSE of the city of Orchard. Local alteration includes the biogenic alteration of anhydrock to limestone. Discovered in 1924 by Texas Gulf Sulfur Company based on a geophysical anomaly (seismic refraction).First produced in 1938 and last produced in 1970. Operated by Duval. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. The top of the dome was tested unsuccessfully for S by Texas Gulf (1929-1930). Gulf Oil found S during overhang oil test. Deposit was delineated by Duval.
Workings included the wells and surface infrastructure for the Frasch production of sulfur.

Mineralization is a salt dome deposit (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 255; USGS model code: 35a.7 (35ag); Deposit model name: Salt-dome sulfur), hosted in Middle Jurassic Louann limestone and salt. The depth to caprock is 285 feet, to the salt it is 369 feet, and to the S it is 1,000 feet. The salt volume was calculated at 1.2 cubic miles to 10,000 feet of depth. The sulfur is found in the flanks of the dome. Local rocks include rocks of the Beaumont Formation, areas predominantly clay.

Local geologic structures include a piercement salt dome.
