Triassic vulcanites eroded by water flow along Rio Albo and other streamlets in the neighbourhood of Contrada Costa.

Typical of these rocks is nodular chalcedony often in the form of geodes up to 20 cm in diametre, whose external crust of chacedony is lined with quartz crystals, sometimes showing a pale amethyst colour, in association with brown acicular goethite and calcite.
