Maolu Village is fairly close to the cliff beside the Jinsha River and close to the Pudu River. Here a set of carbonate minerals has been found since late 2020. Tyrolite is the most famous species among them; azurite, malachite, and aragonite are also common here. Olivenite is the most common arsenate mineral here.
Maolu Village is also a historical area; the Maolu copper "factory" beside the village was a copper smelter in the Qing Dynasty. Ancient miners mined copper ores from a series of copper mines in Dongchuan, carried them to Maolu, and smelted copper using comparatively primitive methods.
Note: None of the tyrolite here was analyzed to be the sulfate-ion-rich type or tangdanite.
