Accumulation of lead slags from the Santa Elisa smelter on El Gachero beach near Mazarrón harbour.

The smelter was inaugurated on August 2, 1886, and ceased operations at the end of 1927.

Original slags are altered by seawater, leading to the formation of a variety of chlorine-bearing secondary phases, similar to the slags in Lavrion, Greece.
