A former underground Ag-Cu-Au-Pb-Zn mine located about 1¾ miles SW of McCabe in the upper part of Chaparral Gulch at about 5,000 feet of altitude. Started in the late 1860's. Owned by the Union Consolidated Mines Co. (circa 1922); and, the Arizona Consolidated Mining Co. (1934 timeframe). Produced 1916-1940.

Mineralization is a vein continuation of the Lelan vein (massive, glassy quartz to 10 feet thick). The oreshoot is tabular and reportedly 250 feet long with a dip of about 30ºSW where it is cut by the tunnel level and on the 77 foot level of the shaft. Country rock is fissile amphibolite to the mine. At the mine the principal rock is sheared Bradshaw Granite. The vein strikes about N.70ºE. and dips steeply SE. In places the quartz is 10 feet thick and is followed by a basic dike intruded in the vein and found on either side of it. The vein carries irregularly disseminated sulfides and free gold in the oxidized zone. Ore control was faulting and shearing. Ore concentration was oxidation of near-surface ores. No alteration was noted. An associated rock unit is the Crown King Granodiorite (informally named) and rhyolite dikes.

Area structures are veins that trend N20E, parallel to foliation in Precambrian metamorphic rocks.

Workings include a 1,200 foot tunnel plus more than 1,000 feet of drifts on the vein and a 200 foot deep shaft sunk from the tunnel level.
