Quicksilver Mine
The Lucky Boy mine was discovered prior to 1884. It yielded 213 flasks of mercury by retort during 1886 to 1887 and, as far as is known, is the only U. S. deposit of the selenides of mercury to be operated commercially. The mine is covered by patented claim Deer Trail 42A held by Deer Trail Mine Development Co. It is on the face of Deer Trail Mountain about 300 feet (ca. 91 m) above the base, and the workings, which consisted of a drift and an open pit, are 900 feet (ca. 274 m) S. 12° W. of the lower or haulage tunnel of the old Deer Trail mine.
Also selenium and tellurium mineralization.
Note: The Lucky Boy Mine is located on an active mining claim. Collecting without permission is strictly prohibited.
