Abandoned and now almost completely landscaped sand pit which worked in altered triassic sandstones (Bunter). Due to the vicinity to a fault system the sandstones were (epigenetic) impregnated in parts by Ni bearing pyrite of hydrothermal origin. The pit was regionally well known for excellent desert roses of Baryte. During some limitied time in the late 1970s blueish to greyish Baryte crystals were found during the excavation of a trench in the vicinity of the pit which cut a mineralized vein in the altered sandstone.

Located 1 km NE of Altforweiler and about 6.5 km SW of Saarlouis.
