A former small underground Cu-Ag-Pb-Zn-Au mine located in North-central sec. 6, T.18S., R.13E., ½ mile SE of Twin Buttes. Produced 1916-1957. Owned at times, or in part, by Baxter; the Twin Buttes Mining & Smelting Co.; Bush & Baxter Mining Co.; Glance Mining Co.; Midland Copper Co.; Foy; Amuran Mining Co.; and the Banner Mining Co.
Mineralization is slightly oxidized, near-surface-enriched, large, irregular orebodies of chalcopyrite and other sulfides with skarn minerals and magnetite in selective, pyrometasomatized and brecciated Paleozoic limestone beds along a fault contact with Precambrian granite. Some mineralization was controlled by fissures.
Workings include shaft operations to 182.88 meters deep. Worked intermittently from 1905 through 1957 with a total production of some 186,000 tons of ore averaging about 7% Cu and 1 oz. Ag/T.
