Tectonics: San Juan Basin

Deposit: The deposits all occur As concretionary nodules in flat-lying sandstone. They are usually found capping low knolls.

Geology: The cuba manganese district is the only locality in the state where the manganese formed either during or immediately after deposition of the host rock.
