Tectonics: San Juan Basin

Deposit: The manganese ore occurred As concretionary nodules of pyrolusite and wad. In a flat bed of sandy shale. It was overlain in several places by feet of sandstone.

Development: The ore was mined out in 1958.

Geology: The cuba manganese district is the only locality in the state where the concretionary manganese nodules were formed during or immediately after deposition of the host rock.
