Active quartz-porphyry quarry.

The quarry in Freiamt-Ottoschwanden (Black Forest) has been in operation since 1955.

The quartz porphyry obtained is processed into certified armourstone, gravel and mineral mixtures.

After a transitional period, the quarry has been continuously producing again since 2009 and the area of ​​application is gradually being expanded through investments. The suitability of the porphyry rock for the highest-quality tasks in the construction sector favors the full commissioning and expansion of the quarry.

The quartz porphyry was formed 250 million years ago in a time of high volcanic activity in the Hünersedel massif.

The high hardness and colour of the rock can be explained by the hydrothermal impregnation of the magma mass with silicic acid and iron solutions after the eruptive phase.

Located on the southern slope of Heuberg mountain, just west of the Hünersedel and about 1.5 km south of Schweighausen.

The Hünersedel itself is a mountain located in the middle of the Black Forest, Germany, near the Schuttertal and the town of Freiamt. The mountain is 744 metres high and the source of the river Schutter.

The viewing tower on its summit is 29 metres high and was erected in 2004.
