A group of former underground Au-Ag-Pb-Cu mines & claim groups located in the SW ¼ sec. 17, SE ¼ sec. 18, NE ¼ sec. 19, & the NW ¼ sec. 20, T.23S., R.11E, on National Forest land. A large group of claims and mines, often overlapping or re-staked, owned and/or worked in whole or in part by various companies, owners or lessors. The major mines of this complex are detailed hereunder. Owned and operated by the Arizona Western Gold Mines Inc. (1976). The Oro Blanco Mining Co.; Fernald; the Legend Group Ltd.; and, Artesia Inc. had unspecified involvement here (1975). Owned and operated by Minefinders Corp. Ltd. (1996).

Mineralization is lensing, tabular zones of brecciated and sheared Cretaceous conglomerate or Tertiary volcanics with finely crystallione quartz cement, minor iron and manganese oxides, wall rock bleaching, and fine-grained gold and silver values. The ratio of silver to gold is about 10:1. Deposits appear limited in verticle and horizontal extent.

Workings are shallow operations from adits, open cuts, and shafts.. Worked sporadically since before the 1900's. Estimated and recorded production would be some 3,000 tons of ore averaging about 0.7 oz. Au/T, 7 oz. Ag/T with minor Cu & Pb. Some high-grade streaks were mined locally. Randol Mining Directory information: Drill-indicated reserves: 500,000 tons @ 0.042, 38,000 tons @ 0.092, 30,000 tons @ 0.78 oz Au/ton.
