A U-Pb-Zn-Cu-Fluorspar-Mn-Travertine prospect with surface and underground workings located in sec. 1 and in the S½SW¼ sec. 8, T.23S., R.11E, on National Forest land. Discovered 1948 by J.H. Bright, Jr. (uranium), earlier for sulfides. First produced 1948. Owned by J.H. Bright, Jr. as of 1951.

Mineralization is a fissure zone between Jurassic rhyolite porphyry and Cretaceous sediments containing sparse uraninite and secondary uranium minerals in highly fractured rhyolite porphyry which also contains thin fracture fillings of calcite, sparse base metal sulfides, pyrite, and purple fluorspar. The ore zone is 1.22 meters long and 0.1 meters wide. Travertine at a small spring shows some weak radioactivity. The host rock units are the Cobre Ridge Tuff - Rhyolite Member and the Sidewinder Quartz Monzonite. Ore control was N-trending, E-dipping faults. Ore concentration was hydrothermal and pitchblende formed by replacement. Secondary uranium deposited in calcareous tufa from leaching of breccia and ground water movement along a N60W fault system. Alteration is silicification and possible chloritization. Pit samples contained 0.010 and 0.015 percent U 2. Selected dump material assayed as high as 0.79% U.

Workings include shallow prospect operations in 1948-1955. Several pits for uranium exploration; one flooded adit for sulfide exploration. Some material was shipped for testing but there has been no commercial production.
