Adit excavated in 1898 in a northwest-southeast direction at 1310 m to the east of Goppenstein and named in honour of Richard Tiebel, the German entrepreneur who operated the Goppenstein lead mine in the period 1897-1907. Its is the second lowest level of the Rothenberg (Rotenberg) workings of the Goppenstein lead mine; two raises connect it to the upper levels I (1345), II (1360), III (1380), IV (1400), and V (1425), and a series of sumps to the lower Dahl adit (level 1286).
The adit crosscuts the whole sequence of layered rocks: sericite gneiss, biotite augen gneiss, ore-hosting sericite schist, and amphibolite. In its northwestern sector crosscutting the gneisses, fissure and small cavities up to the size of a fist are present and can contain crystals of quartz, galena, magnetite, rutile, anatase, and brookite. Ilmenite and axinite-(Fe) occur separately from the minerals mentioned above.
