The Fjordvangen area is known for producing large staurolite crystals. Most of these were found during construction of houses and the quai in the area, and these areas being urbanized and populated are longer accessible. A few outcrops showing staurolite-bearing rock can be found in a few small road cuttings and along the shoreline (Reykdal 2022).
