Ancient baryte mining district in the area east of Klein-Umstadt, between Kleestadt in the north (northeast of Klein-Umstadt) and Raibach in the south (southeast of Klein-Umstadt and east of Groß-Umstadt). Activities started around 1830 and ceased in 1931. Between 1906 and 1931, the mines raised 500,000 tons of baryte, making this the most important baryte mining district in the Odenwald range.

The veins are hosted in granite; they are about 2.5 m wide on average, and include iron and manganese oxides and occasionally copper ores. About 15 of them are known, and 12 of them have been mined. At Kleestadt, the outcrop of one of the veins was still accessible in 1985, but has since been obliterated.
