Sparse outcrops of Proterozoic granite (1749 +/- 12 Ma) on which the Baraboo Quartzites were deposited.
Tourmaline-bearing quartz veins cutting Proterozoic Baraboo Quartzite were sampled from several outcrops in the Baxter Hollow area, south of Baraboo.
