Carlin-like gold deposit, occurring in the Sagaing fault zone.

Epithermal gold mineralization occuring as a stockworks/dissemination style with localized breccia zones in silicified sandstones of the Male Formation (Eocene). The mineralization appears to be closely associated with NNE-SSW trending extensional faults probably related directly to the dextral movement of the Sagaing Fault system. The deposit is characterised by intense silicification associated with sericitization, argillic alteration and decalcification.

Premining geological resource estimate by Newmont in 1996 of 6.4 Mt at 3.0 g/t Au (627,000 oz Au).
