Gold. The Taylors prospect is 12 kilometres south of Frasers pit, as a potential future open pit.
Historically called Home Reef, there is evidence of minor mining in the past, but details are unknown.
The deposit was drilled by BHP (N.Z.) Ltd, and then Oceana in 1996.
The deposit is considered a continuation of the Golden Bar structure to the north. There are three shallow east dipping shears, the deposit 450 metres above the Hyde-Macrae Shear Zone Footwall shear. Between the deposit and Footwall shear is a 450 metre zone of mineralisation in pelite. Above the deposit is psammite to semi psammite schist. There is only minor north-west trending faulting in the area, but a major east-west fault 2 kilometres north, and one kilometre south of the deposit.
Mineralisation at the deposit is confined to two near concordant mineralised structures, being an upper shear, 1 metre thick, located 25-30 metres above a lower shear, 3 metres thick, both dipping 12-20 degrees east.
Within the lower shear is a mineralised ore shoot, 200 metre by 100 metres that plunges obliquely along the structure north north-east. This contains quartz veining with pyrite and arsenopyrite containing gold. No quartz stockwork occurs below the lower shear. Only the lower shear persists to the south, and under one metre thick, with weak mineralisation.
As of 31st December 2009, indicated resource was 0.28 Mt of ore, at 1.50 g/t Au, and an inferred resource of 0.41 Mt of ore at 1.1 g/t Au, and 0.22 au Moz (0.5 g/t cut-off).
