Frikstad 17 skjerp (Rogdevollen skjerp), Frikstad, Iveland, Agder, Norge


The brothers Nils and Torleiv Frøysaa have had plans to start mining for feldspar, quartz and a REE concentrate in many years. In 2017 they managed to find a way to start the first phase of this project. They blasted out a 50 x 10 x 6 m trench parallel with the Tuftane quarry, at the north side of the road. The trench is partly in pegmatite, partly in amphibolite.

The pegmatite is an extension of the Tuftane pegmatite, but unfortunately they didn't yet reach the intermediate zone where one expects the interesting minerals to be. The exact size of the pegmatite is not yet known, but is assumed to be considerable.
