According to Huff (2013) danburite was discovered by Ronald Januzzi during a sewer project at an old factory at Oil Mill Pond (now drained and built over) off Lake Avenue. It reportedly was identified by various methods, although none of the results are included in the reference. The new discovery is in a rock containing danburite, titanite, phologopite, olivine and feldspar. This sounds similar to type locality rock in museum holdings (see https://www.mindat.org/loc-243666.html), but which has not been located in the field. It is presumably from a marble but geologic mapping at this new locality is all Proterozoic gneiss. Huff (2013) provides little detail about the locality, even less than the meager description of the type locality. When was it found? Was it in place? Was it in a boulder? What is the rock type? Where are the samples? How about posting some photos of the locality and the samples to mindat.org and fleshing out this page some more?
