A former small underground mine worked early 1900s via shafts and open cut and shallow pits. Au-Cu-Ag. Small footprint on the side of Mt Dromedary. 16 kms north of Mt Hope and 2.5 kms west of the highway.

Explored by Newmont Pty Ltd in 1974. Magnetite wasmined by the Mount Hope Copper Mine for flux in the in early references may have confused Mount Dromedary with Double Peak.

The site was prospected not long after the major Mount Hope copper mine was discovered to the south in 1873, however the claims were soon abandoned. Later prospectors sank shafts and small pits on an ironstone gossan although nothing payable was found. In 1904 a Melbourne syndicate was formed and produced a small amount of gold before again the site was abandoned. In 1907 John Hall installed a battery and cyanide plant but production is unknown.

Prominent ironstone gossan cap with minor azurite, malachite and gold. Hosted by chlorite-magnetite rock at or near the contact of volcanics -interbedded siltstone and sandstone. Mineralisation is confined to quartz-chlorite-magnetite rock in strongly Fe siltstone and sandstone. The deposit is said to contain pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena, and minor gold, bismuthinite and tungsten, however the Gilligan reference states these are only anomalous. A visit in 2004 found a small talc-chlorite dump with abundant azurite nodules to 5cm wide of masses of aligned crystals.
