Marl and limestone quarries in Jurassic strata. The mine is divided in an upper part and a lower part. The upper part was abandoned in 1920, and the lower part was abandoned in 1962, although mushrooms were cultivated there for a while after that. The upper mine consists of four levels, each with a main gallery branching in smaller ones. The lower mine is much bigger, with more than five levels connected by the “great staircase”.
