Deep Lake Mine


A zinc mine on the south end of Deep Lake. The ore occurred as stringers and disseminations in dolomite of the Kootenay Arc. Development consisted of a 420' long adit, a shorter adit, a shaft, and a cut. It produced ore in 1937, 1947, 1951 containing a reported 15,000 lbs Pb, 23,000 lbs Zn, and 71 oz Ag.
Structure: Ne- Trending Fault, Dips Sw And Offsets Main Ore Zone.

Deposit: Ore minerals disseminated in limestone and along fractures.disseminated sulfides fade out rapidly within a few feet of the ore -bearing fractures. Limestone - granodiorite contact is a fault. Main ore zone 250 feet north of faulted contact.

Development: Econ.com: ore contains traces of gallium and germanium.
