A salt-S-limestone deposit/prospect located 12.5 km (7.8 miles) SSW of Brenham, along the Austin County line, on private land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. This dome was discovered between 1915 and 1935. Some 7 sulfur tests were drilled during the period 1935 to 1948.
Mineralization is a salt-S-limestone deposit (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code 255: USGS model code: 35a.7 (35ag); Deposit model name: Salt-dome sulfur), hosted in Middle Jurassic Louann Limestone and salt. The ore body has a depth-to-top of 262.13 meters. The depth to caprock is 800 feet, to the salt it is 1,150 feet. Salt volume was calculated at 1.3 cubic miles to 10.560 feet. Local alteration includes the biogenic alteration of anhydrock to limestone. Local rocks include rocks of the Fleming Formation.
Local geologic structures include a piercement salt dome.
