This natural elevation of 145 meters above sea level is located in the Serra de Carnaxide and is part of the Volcanic Complex of Lisbon. Along a geodesic mark is a lighthouse [farol da Mama (Mama lighthouse), marca Mama or Mama Sul] that together with the Gibalta lighthouse, situated next to the railway line of Cascais, and the Esteiro lighthouse in Alto da Boa Viagem, in the woods of Jamor, sets the threading of Barra Grande or South of the Tagus River Bar, marking geographic and geostrategic points important for shipping that arrives or leaves the Port of Lisbon.
