The Tonto gold prospect is approximately 35 kilometres north-east of Leonora, and east of the Leonora-Nambi Road. The Quicksilver prospect is immediately to the south.
It is located on the west branch of the Mertondale Shear Zone. Geology-wise it is similar to the Quicksilver prospect. It contains a steep dipping, high grade lode, structurally controlled, and plunging shallowly south.
Most of the gold is not visible to the naked eye, and has no obvious association with the sulphides, quartz veining, or the graphite and sericite.
The Footwall consists of massive quartz-dolerite, with a bleached or carbonated halo on its immediate contact with the mylonite. This grades into strongly chloritic massive quartz-dolerite, devoid of gold. Bleached quartz-dolerite contains bright green spots of fuchsite, with some epidote alteration and veining.
Estimated JORC reserves are 0.97 Mt at 1.9 g/t yielding 60 000 ounces of gold.
