A number of small prospects on the western side of Kaneset has been worked in the the Vikingstad formation. This formation consist of greenschist, volcanic metasediments, phyllites and cherts. All the localities are small.
The Kaneset prospect consist of a 7m long, 1-2m wide and up to 5m high cut in the rock face. A 1.5m wide zone of banded, very fine grained magnetite ore can be observed in the old workings. This zone consist of alternating magnetite bands ( <1 cm thick) and white and reddish manganese bearing cherts. The host rock is a greenschist vut by coarse grained calcite and quartz bands.
Ore samples can be found in the dump (ca 50 m3).
