Ordinary Chondrite (H4)
Fell, 5 April 1939; 3.336 kg

After detonations a 3.31 kg meteoritic stone fell with a small 26 g fragment landing only 8 meters away. Detonations had been heard up to 13 km away. Several persons observed the fall and it was taken almost immediately to geologists at Lund University. Prominent olivine and pyroxene chondrules, fragments, and grains are accompanied by troilite and Fe-Ni metal. Glass of largely plagioclase composition is also present. A few minor opaques were been reported by Ramdohr (1973).

Ekeby is one of 9 witnessed meteorite falls recovered in Sweden, all of them ordinary chondrites. It is also one of 51 meteorites classified as exactly type 'H4' members of the ordinary H (high bulk iron) chondrite geochemical group.
