Discovered by William Corboy in 1921. He was an active prospector in the district across the 1920's and 1930's, discovering several small shows.
The Superintendent of State Batteries, A.M. Howe, visited in 1926, and stated little work had been done on the whole field, except at Corboy and nearby Tuscana. The reward lease (24 acres) owned by Corboy and McHugh had a 5 head battery and cyanide plant, which were erected in 1925, and was crushing for other prospectors in the district. This continued into the 1930's, helped by a government subsidy. The battery had come from McHugh's lease at Lawlers.
There was an agreement between the prospectors of the district using the battery and Corboy/McHugh, that when the sands reached 300 tonnes, it would be processed for the benefit of the prospectors. By 1932, the pile had reached over 500 tonnes, with no processing in sight. The prospectors took Corboy/McHugh to the Wiluna Warden's Court, virtually all turning up on the day for the hearing. With no formal written agreement, the warden told them to go away, and sort it out between themselves.
The location is at the southern end of the field. Where the Barwidgee Road turns sharply from south-east to east (if travelling south), and a little before its intersection with the Wonganoo Road, there is a faint track heading south-east a few kilometres. There appears to be tailing sands remnants, but any further details would need an on-site inspection.
