The quarry consist of a 27m long, 2-3m wide cut with up to 3m high walls. A 3x4m water filled sink is located in the NE part of the quarry.

The hematite occurs as 10-20 cm wide bands and lenses in zone that does not seem to be wider then 1m. The zone is interpreted to be a fault zone of unknown age. The host rock is a grayish red granitic gneiss with minor amphibole and biotite.
